Overall Satisfaction with Intuit Mailchimp
We are a not for profit organisation and we use Mailchimp to send monthly newsletter (and occasionally fundraising emails) to our supporters, or to advertise some of our events, and we also have specific newsletters for two of our centers and/or sub-audiences (followers of our network, press releases for media)
Pros
- sending emails automatically to our contact list
- divide different categories of people in separate audiences
- follow who opens / don't open our emails
Cons
- sometimes people get unsubscribed automatically from our emails simply because there might be a temporary problem between Mailchimp and their email server... It's nearly impossible to put them back in
- when the two-steps sign in is in place (I disabled this recently) many people do not click on the "confirm your registration" email. Either the email lands in their spam box, and/or (in our case) the name of the email was misleading and we have lost a lot of people who never confirmed. And it's impossible to see people who are "pending" and to send them a reminder
- it's very difficult to re-register once one has unsubscribed from a mailing list
- it would be good to be able to "validate" before people are "cleaned" from Mailchimp (as it's sometimes by mistake)
- it is too expansive (even with a 10% discount as a non profit) (and I was not told I could get a discount until several years after I had subscribed)
- saves time in email management
I've used the feature that tries to see where people are (geographically). However this does not work well and often mistakenly locates people in the wrong place, so I use it with a lot of caution and relatively rarely.
That's the only management features I remember using.

- Campaign templates
- Customer journeys (automated workflows)
some of the above are not included in my plan so I cannot comment on them. The two I clicked on are the only two I use.
the emails sent automatically to people who register to our newsletter are good and help create a sense of community. But it's not very intuitive how to build this custommer journey. For example, I would like to implement something relatively simple, but that I've not been able to do : automatically send the last newsletter sent (from the current month) whenever people register to the newsletter, on top of the welcome email (but I have not found how to to this simply)
I've seen the price of Mailchimp grow much faster than our income and I find it too expansive.
Also I find that with my current plan there are too many limitations (to the number of registered users that I can add from among my staff and also the number of audiences that are too limited for the price we pay).
