We use Klaviyo as our CRM and also our email provider to create email flows and also campaigns, we have about 20 active flows, and send about 2 campaigns a week. We also use it to segment customers, and integrate with other tools. We have been using it for over 3 years since we launched

Klaviyo is great for any business built on shopify, i think it could work for a small to medium sized business, but can't speak beyond that. . We also use it to segment customers, and integrate with other tools. We have been using it for over 3 years since we launched

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Klaviyo to send promotional emails and text messages to our subscriber base. In addition, we have a series of automations set up in Klaviyo that are triggered when subscribers and/or customers perform a certain action (e.g. when they abandon their cart at checkout we have an abandoned cart flow set up in Klaviyo to help push them over the purchase line)

Segments audiences based on behavior incredibly well

Cons

Billing could be improved. They bill for every profile in your database regardless of how active/inactive they are
They could do with phone support
Deliverability could be improved, especially for accounts that recently migrated from another esp.

Likelihood to Recommend

Klaviyo houses all the email and associated sms numbers of our subscribers. This is incredibly convenient as I can create text campaigns based on email promotions and vice versa. They also have great popup forms that can seamlessly integrate to our website, which are also conveniently tied to the email lists and segments in Klaviyo.

We are a Shopify Agency so we work with dozens of ecommerce clients across different sectors. We primarily support with on site conversion, but a big part of this is conversion and we need to ensure our merchants are re-targetting users who are engaged with their brand. That's where Klaivyo comes in. Klaviyo is what 9/10 of our clients use for their email marketing so often we support with setups, and advising on what they are missing.

Some Shopify integrations are limited (e.g. smartwishlist has limited segmentation options with klaivyo)
Pricing can sometimes be a sticking point for our brands
Would be helpful also if there was more AI integrations that recommended to brands what kind of flows they should have based on their business model

We frequently recommend Klaviyo to clients. Klaviyo is best suited for our ecommerce clients, less so for our B2B clients as they don't get as much immediate revenue impact from it. It integrates extremely well with Shopify and we also love it's preorder functionality which allows us to add additional functionality to stores with ease.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Klaviyo as a core component of our marketing strategy to communicate with our audience, drive engagement, and ultimately increase product sales. As a small business, Klaviyo allows us to compete with larger brands by providing robust tools for segmentation, automation, and personalized communication—all within a user-friendly interface. We use weekly email campaigns with targeted segments as well as many custom flows to automate sales in an effective, but very hands-off way.

Setting up certain features requires complicated coding
Inability to enter flows more than once for certain triggers
It's not clear how to reduce the size of emails to avoid "clipping"

Klaviyo is the gold standard for product-based e-commerce businesses. There is no other platform that comes close to the capabilities offered. However, for businesses that are not selling products online, much of the features are overkill and not necessary.

Klaviyo is excellent for email marketing, especially with flows and split testing. Its seamless integration with Shopify makes automation and personalisation easy to manage. We haven’t used KDP extensively, but it appeared complex at first glance and may not be as intuitive for less technical users.

We use Klaviyo to send email and SMS campaigns to e-commerce customers that sign up on our website. We also set up several automated campaigns, including a Welcome Series, Cart Abandonment Series, Lost Customer Series, and Browse Abandonment Series among others. Klaviyo enabled us to increase our sales through direct campaigns and automated campaigns plus implementing features like sending a customer fewer emails so they don't unsubscribe completely and targeting campaigns by frequency of interactions, products purchased, or loyalty standing. It was easy to set up our Reviews and Loyalty apps to run through Klaviyo too. The platform is easy to navigate and use without having to spend time learning from videos or help files, we were able to just jump right in and use it.

Very easy to setup Klaviyo with Bigcommerce for email & SMS capture, comes with templates that are simple to edit and publish.
Very easy to set up Klaviyo with other 3rd party apps like Yotpo Reviews and Loyalty, giving you easy access to send emails based on loyalty points or asking for a review.

Cons

It's hard to say where there is room for improvement, the price tag could be improved but you could say that about anything.
It was a bit difficult to figure out how to manually unsubscribe contacts, I had to make a bookmark to the page, it just wasn't obvious where to go.
Some SMS contacts got tagged as being in another country/time zone which did mess up our SMS campaigns until we figured it out and manually fixed those contacts. We only sell in the US. One of them was in-house, so we knew for sure she wasn't in another country and hadn't been at any point in time. Others we found had US addresses as well.

Likelihood to Recommend

Klaviyo is well suited for email campaigns and SMS campaigns. It is great for automated campaigns including cart abandonment, browse abandonment, welcome campaign, lost customer campaign, loyalty campaigns, product review collection, and more. It is easy to use and easy to set up all of the above as well as pop ups on your website to collect emails and phone numbers for SMS and special campaigns even. We did not feel it was necessary to use it for direct customer communications about their orders but you could use it for that too if you wanted to, keeping in mind you pay per the number of emails you send out (wink wink).

Klaviyo performs exceptionally well as a newsletter service, helping our tabletop gaming company educate customers, retailers, distributors, media, and press on our product offerings and events. It has significantly boosted sales by allowing us to provide targeted and engaging content. Klaviyo’s robust data reporting allows us to track newsletter attribution to Shopify sales, offering invaluable insights. Customer service is fantastic, always helpful and responsive. However, recurring bugs and glitches—such as issues with font size, color, text block sizes changing on their own, or text disappearing entirely and forcing you to restart a section—can be very frustrating, impacting the smoothness of the user experience. The gains far outweigh the downsides.

I'm a brand strategist at a Marketing agency and I use Klaviyo for Email marketing for almost all our clients.

One thing that Klaviyo absolutely aces is the ease of customization. I've struggled with customization a lot over shopify emails and thats something that is very easy over Klaviyo. It is also super easy to import list and segments and all over integration with other applications and softwares is also super smooth.

Analytics dashboards are also a big plus.

Pros

The first thing would be customization. It's easy to create columns, add different sections, have multiple links. This helps in creating mails that are more engaging.
The addition of dynamic content make Klaviyo the best. The fact that I can keep dynamic products, and put in much more kinds of dynamic content increases the chances of all over conversions by a huge margin.

Cons

One thing that Klaviyo can do better is adding multiple links to a picture, right now there is an option to cut images in parts to put seperate links but I'd love to see something like image mapping. It would be a game changer.
Klaviyo has stopped integration with Yotpo, I either want to see Klaviyo improve on the SMS front and provide better service for SMS marketing or renew the integration option with Yotpo.

Likelihood to Recommend

Klaviyo is the bread and butter for anyone working in email marketing. Not using Klaviyo would be the same as a football star saying I don't wear Addidas Or Nike Shoes.

Klaviyo covers everything needed for email marketing except for a few tiny bits like the lack of image mapping.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Klaviyo for email flows and campaigns. The flexibility and possibilities in flows make keeping timely contact with our audience a breeze. The email designer is simple, but allows for all the customization you'd want from an email builder. The ability to switch between mobile and desktop specific designs is a feature many don't offer. The integration to our store and metrics are robust, work as intended, and provide the insight we need to adjust our flows and campaigns accordingly. Highly recommend.
